Get Involved

St. Mary's Catholic School has many opportunities for families to share their time, talents, and treasures. We encourage all families to become involved through Fall Festival, Home & School Association, Booster Club, Coaching, Classroom or Office Volunteers.

St. Mary's Home and School Association

Welcome to St Mary's! I am the President of HSA this year and we’ve got some great stuff planned this year so stay posted on this section to get involved…

HASA is your Home and School Association. This is a way for parents to come together and help the school be a better place. This organization provides a vital link between parents, teachers, and the school.  We provide social event planning for the parents and kids in the school, run events such as the midway at Fall Festival, teacher appreciation days, and coordinate the many volunteer committees that help out in different areas.

The Home and School Association has general membership meetings each year which every parent and teacher are expected to attend. All teachers and parents of children who attend St. Mary's School are members of the Home and School Association.  Parish members are also invited to participate. Valuable information is dispersed through the HSA meetings, your ideas for improvement will be heard and you will get to know more parents.

If you have any questions, comments or want to join a committee, feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your support and participation.  I'm looking forward to a great school year!

Advisory Council
St. Mary's Advisory Council

The Advisory Council is responsible for giving advice concerning school issues.  The council is composed of elected members who are both Catholic and Protestant, a Home and School Association representative, the pastor, the principal, a representative of the staff, and the business manager.  Parents who wish to bring a matter to the council’s attention should submit the item in writing to the council president at least ten days prior to the meeting so the issue can be added to the monthly agenda.  Parents are welcome to attend the council meetings which are held on the second Monday of each month at the school.  Only agenda items are eligible for discussion.

Service Opportunities

Diocesan guidelines require all volunteers to help create and maintain a “safe environment” for children by submitting to a background check and attending the Keeping Children Safe training once every three years.

Each family is asked to donate ten volunteer hours per year to St. Mary’s School.  There are many ways for families to get involved with activities at the school.  Parents can help with classroom parties, field trips, sports events, the Fall Festival, Field Day, and office support.

Knights of Columbus
Council 1167 is dedicated in its support of St Mary's Catholic Church and School.  Thousands of dollars are donated each year to St Mary's through various fundraisers, such as annual Truck Dances and the Annual Golf Tournaments.  In addition to financial help, council members donate countless volunteer hours working to maintain school and church grounds.

The Knights of Columbus is an international fraternal and service organization for Catholic men. It is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.6 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus.

The Grand Knight for 2010-2011 is Danny Wolf. You can contact the Grand Knight by phone at 940-736-3137 or by email at
kofc1167@hotmail.com. The Council meets on the second Wednesday (at 8:00pm) of the month at the Knights of Columbus Hall.  You can visit the Gainesville Knights of Columbus website at http://gainesvillekc1167.shutterfly.com/
