St. Mary's  Jr High

I am Sonja Swirczynski and I teach 5th-8th grade English, Language Arts and 6th Grade Homeroom.  I have been a teacher for 37 years!  My hometown is Muenster and I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in education from College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, Minnesota and a Master's degree in education from UNT in Denton.

Favorite books:  I have many,  but the  two top ones would be The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas and The Tale of Two Cities
by Charles Dickens.

I have been teaching at St Mary's for 15 years.    I like the smallness of our classes and the family atmosphere.   St. Mary's is a place where we can speak about God and His relationship with us.  There are high academic requirements for the students, but it is the Catholic education that impacts them the most.   These are the major reasons I like what I do at St. Mary's.

Favorite Quote: I have many, but the one I live by is
“One day at a time.”
“One day at a time, sweet Jesus.”

I am Pat Benton and I teach 5th-8th Grade Religion and Social Studies.  I joined the St. Mary’s School 5 years ago.  My hometown is Lamesa, Texas and I went to college at Angelo State University.

I am married to Theresa and we have four kids.  We have nine grandkids of which 3 attend Saint Mary’s.  We also have a dog…Sophie! I love John Gresham books and my favorite movies are “A time to Kill”, “Bucket List”, “The Green Mile”, and “ Grand Trevino”.

I love the kids and the support that we get from parents at Saint Mary’s.   I taught 30 years in public school, but nothing comes close to the learning environment that we have in this school, we might not be as fancy or have as much equipment as other, but just look at how our kids do in the high schools they attend…our kids or at the top of their classes. We teach leadership, disciple and love for our God. Our kids learn to grasp academics with enthusiasm and built on the foundation set forth by St. Mary’s.

"Ask and it shall be given to you, Seek, and you will find. Knock and the door will be open to you".  - Matthew 7:7
